Highly Accurate Meter Key Part of Upgrade Strategy for Water Authority

Cranston, RI, USA, February 11, 2015 – Primary Flow Signal, the leading designer and manufacturer of innovative, durable, and accurate flow-metering solutions, has successfully installed a rectangular Halmi Venturi Flow Meter used to accurately measure sewage discharge from the Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant in Washington, DC.

According to the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority, the Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant is the largest of its kind in the world with a capacity of 370 million gallons per day (MGD), a peak capacity of 1.076 billion gallons per day and covering 150 acres. The plant provides wastewater collection and treatment services to more than two million Washington metro area customers.

Very large line size nozzle improves accuracy for full-scale product testing

Cranston, RI, USA, January 28, 2015 – Primary Flow Signal, the leading designer and manufacturer of innovative, durable, and accurate flow-metering solutions, has successfully delivered a 96” ASME PTC 19.5, throat-tapped flow nozzle for use within the largest gas turbine validation facility in the world. Once installed in the facility’s test stand, the flow nozzle will be subjected to simulations of real-world power connectivity and testing well beyond critical limits of normal plant operations.

The first flow nozzle has been shipped and orders have been placed for additional nozzles, giving the facility significantly more accurate measurement of the high air flow output required for testing H-class gas turbines. This very large line size nozzle was manufactured at the company’s Rhode Island facility using a combination of 304 stainless steel and fiberglass. The nozzle features four equally-spaced taps at the throat for a variety of instrumentation required for a specific test.

Cranston, RI, USA, September 4, 2014 – Primary Flow Signal (PFS), the leading designer and manufacturer of innovative, durable, and accurate flow-metering solutions, has successfully completed the manufacturing and independent laboratory flow calibration of a 42” Halmi Venturi high pressure model HVT-FVF flow meter for a large water facility being constructed in the western U.S. Once installed, the facility will have the most accurate meter solution available at this scale at +/-0.25% of actual rate of flow, as well as a flow element that will provide decades of reliable service due to the fact that the meter was built with 1.0” thick 316 stainless steel.
