High accuracy in non-pressurized piping bolstered by expert engineering services

Cranston, RI, USA, August 4, 2014 – Primary Flow Signal (PFS), the leading designer and manufacturer of innovative, durable, and accurate flow-metering solutions, is offering a unique measurement technology called the Halmi Nozzle that is designed for open conduit flow for water, sewage, sludge, or any other material flowing in a non-pressurized environment.

The Halmi Nozzle was developed to measure liquid flow in horizontally-laid pipes where the flow partially fills the pipe and is driven by gravity only, such as free discharge applications (e.g. sewer manholes). The Halmi Nozzle has an accuracy of ± 2.0% of max rate and can be used with a number of secondary readout devices, including ultrasonic level capacitance, pressure, and a local staff gauge.

Halmi Nozzles have been bench and flow calibrated to ensure that the flow metering calculations produce the real flow rate with known discharge coefficients. This is particularly important when the meters are produced in different line sizes, as the same metering principle eliminates the need for individual floe calibration of each meter.
