Utilizes state-of-the-art system to add hardening materials to small line size meters

Cranston, RI, USA, April 9, 2013 – Primary Flow Signal (PFS), the leading designer and manufacturer of innovative, durable, and accurate flow-metering solutions for oil & gas, water/wastewater, and industrial applications, announces that it now has the ability to add hardened cladding materials to its small and large line size meters.

This new capability is possible through the purchase of an AC3000 Auto Clad machine from Climax Portable Machining and Welding Systems, a global engineering services and machine tools manufacturer. PFS’s manufacturing engineers have been fully trained and certified on the system, enabling the company to add cladding materials to harden its line of flow meters that are designed for highly abrasive oil sand, slurry, concrete materials, and mining process applications.

This new system and staff capability will allow even distribution of cladding materials, such as Stellite® or chromium carbide, to meter surfaces in order to retain the high accuracy and repeatability of the original meter with pipe bores from 2 to 22 inches in diameter, and flanges up to 32 inches in diameter. Although cladding is not a new procedure, Primary Flow Signal is improving the process by ensuring that the quality and application of cladding materials is uniform, which eliminates the need to calibrate each individual meter.
